This is sketch to a rough block in of values. Soon I'll do a more detailed value rendering and then do some color studies and make value changes accordingly, and the final part will be adding in the details to help sell it.
I used the lasso tool here. just made several layers and used gradients. selected dark and light areas. then i will go over with an overlay mode layer and color it.... then use the colors/values to do the final painting.
i do like that first sketch more too, but it's tough, i didn't have a light box with me and i generally find that I like just eye-balling it, even if it doesn't turn out the same way... it helps me keep it fresh.
Yeah it happens to me often when i eyeball the sketch and transfer it to photoshop. In fact the final product/art always turn out different. ha ha ha.. Both good and bad at times. I still think you have a great concept here anyway.
