Goliath Bot p1 by bear65 Goliath Bot p1 by bear65
This is sketch to a rough block in of values. Soon I'll do a more detailed value rendering and then do some color studies and make value changes accordingly, and the final part will be adding in the details to help sell it.

Wow that's awesome!
I just can't figure out how to color a sketch in photoshop without using the magic wand.

I used the lasso tool here. just made several layers and used gradients. selected dark and light areas. then i will go over with an overlay mode layer and color it.... then use the colors/values to do the final painting.

Right so the trick here is selecting dark and light areas, then add the layers.
Thanks man, I owe you one ^^!

I prefer the initial paper sketch where his fist is not held up. It shows more of his character as a titan with slow but powerful movements. :)

i do like that first sketch more too, but it's tough, i didn't have a light box with me and i generally find that I like just eye-balling it, even if it doesn't turn out the same way... it helps me keep it fresh.

Yeah it happens to me often when i eyeball the sketch and transfer it to photoshop. In fact the final product/art always turn out different. ha ha ha.. Both good and bad at times. I still think you have a great concept here anyway. :)
